U.S. Tour - The Story
We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
After rewriting my Living Abroad Series travel blog in Winter of 2022 to rebrand it as a part of my website portfolio, I came to the realization that I hadn’t truly experienced travel since my journey in 2018.
Once my experience living in Ireland and traveling throughout Europe for the Fall semester of my Junior year came to a close and the Summer before my Senior year began, I accepted an internship in New York City at Parasol Marketing Group, where I worked on public relations and marketing accounts for luxury hospitality and travel clients; boutique hotels and resorts around the world.
I loved what I did there and knew I wanted to continue down the path of hospitality and tourism in my life and career.
I continued on to my Senior year, with my time at my university coming to a swift halt during March of 2020 in the height of the pandemic. I - and all other college students worldwide - had to leave university housing and move home, away from campus and all of the relationships built over the past four years.
I graduated Magna cum Laude with a degree in Communications (Public Relations) and Marketing in May of 2020, after completing my final semester in my parent’s dining room through online classes. I was offered and accepted a full-time position in June of 2020 as a Marketing Specialist at the global financial services firm, T. Rowe Price, where I worked for one year, focusing on marketing project management, communication outreach and design.
Longing to return to the hospitality industry that was hit so hard during the pandemic, in May of 2021 I was offered and accepted a position as a Communications Specialist at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Baltimore, where I specialized in guest experience, promotions and revenue management.
During this time, I thought a lot about where I wanted my life and career to go, and what I had enjoyed most about my pre-pandemic life. I applied and was accepted in to the College of Charleston’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, with an emphasis in Hospitality and Tourism - a chance for me to further my education, expand on my experience and build connections in a city best known for its charming hospitality.
I made the decision to end my role with Four Seasons and in February of 2022, took time to travel again before beginning my new journey in Charleston - and I’m very excited to share these travels in my new blog: U.S. Tour Series.
